The avalanche danger is low at all elevations today. Remember that “Low” danger does not mean no danger. Small avalanches are possible in isolated pockets in very steep wind loaded terrain.

Be on the lookout for isolated pockets of wind slab and shallow dry loose avalanches in the upper elevations today. The 3-5" of new snow that fell two nights ago was low density (5-6%), was associated with minimal wind and is unlikely to be a problem today. Exceptions may be found in very steep terrain (>40 degrees) in the upper elevations. These problems become more of an issue in exposed terrain, where moving snow can knock you off your feet and result in a fall. Watch for signs of instability such as shooting cracks and collapsing. Move to lower angled terrain if these signs are present.

Weak snow near the base of the snowpack remains and sits under old hard slabs 2-4 feet thick. This problem has moved into a dormant phase in the Tetons. Large triggers in the form of groups, snowmobiles and falling cornices could activate these layers, but this would be an outlier event. The last isolated event like this occurred 11 days ago in St Patty’s day couloir. Because of these factors, it is important to follow safe travel practices in big steep terrain in the event that your assessment is wrong or your luck has run out. Travel one at a time, utilize islands of safety and communicate within your group throughout the day.
