Problemi valanghivi

  • Wind slab

    • Above 2,500 m
  • Persistent weak layers

    • Above 2,400 m

Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs above approximately 2300 m.

The clearly visible wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads, in particular on northwest to northeast to southeast facing aspects above approximately 2300 m. Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines above the tree line, as well as in the vicinity of peaks. Weak layers in the lower part of the snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads.

Snowpack Structure

Below approximately 2200 m as well as very steep sunny slopes: As a consequence of rising temperatures and partly cloudy skies a crust formed on the surface at the weekend. In particular above approximately 2300 m as well as adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls: The sometimes storm force wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Above the tree line mostly small wind slabs formed. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on steep west, north and east facing slopes.
