New snow and wind slabs from the second half of the night.

Some snow will fall until the afternoon. The somewhat older wind slabs will be covered with new snow and therefore difficult to recognise. These are to be found in particular on north, east and southeast facing slopes and generally in the high Alpine regions. Wind slabs can as before be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach large size in isolated cases. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack are a clear indication of a weakly bonded snowpack. Several small and medium-sized dry avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of the snowfall.

In some regions 5 to 25 cm of snow will fall above approximately 1800 m. Down to 400 m and below snow will fall in the late morning in some regions. The soft wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack.
