A fast moving storm deposited new snow on top of a stable snowpack. Avalanches involving the old snow are unlikely today. A slight chance exists for skiers and riders to trigger shallow wind slabs formed by strong northwest winds along ridge crests and peaks at the higher elevations. Although small in size, these slides could sweep skiers or riders into rocky terrain features that are typical during early season conditions.

This system will be mostly finished by sunrise, with lingering snow showers and clearing skies expected on Tuesday. The storm will favor the Tetons where two to four inches is expected at the higher elevations. The other forecast areas are expected to receive closer to two inches of accumulation. Low elevations may see an inch. Temperatures during the day are to rise into the mid-teens at higher elevations the mid-twenties in the valleys. Winds are to be westerly overnight with averages above twenty miler per hour during the storm before decreasing and becoming northwesterly during the day. The general avalanche hazard will remain Low. The snowpack is stable and relatively shallow. New accumulations are to be too light to significantly increase hazard, however localized wind loaded pockets should be avoided as even small slides can sweep someone into rocky terrain.
