Avalanche Activity

The fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases.

The fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes. These can be released, even by small loads in isolated cases and reach medium size. This applies in particular on wind-loaded slopes, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The danger of natural avalanches will decrease.

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs of last week are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. The wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers. Especially south, southeast and southwest facing slopes, sunny slopes: The weather conditions fostered a gradual strengthening of the snowpack.
