Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of fresh unstable windslab will continue to develop and gain depth. Wind sheltered areas such as gullies and coire rims on steep North through East to South-East aspects above around 750 metres will be most affected. Cornices will begin to develop above these aspects. Elsewhere there will be a covering of fresh stable snow on bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the period will fall as snow above around 750 metres. Very strong West-South-Westerly winds overnight will ease to become moderate during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Snow throughout the day above around 500 metres on strong South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 650 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of fresh unstable windslab have developed on North to East aspects above around 750 metres. Wind sheltered locations such as gully tops and coire rims are most affected. Elsewhere there is a thin covering of stable snow on bare ground. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
