The mostly small wind slabs represent the main danger.
As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind from southwesterly directions, wind slabs will form. They represent the main danger. Even single winter sport participants can release avalanches in some places. These avalanche prone locations are to be found at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. Additionally in some places avalanches can be released in deep layers reach medium size. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger. Saturday: As a consequence of new snow and wind dry avalanches are possible from the second half of the night, but they will be mostly small.
5 to 15 cm of snow will fall in the early morning above approximately 2000 m. 10 to 20 cm of snow fell on Thursday. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a weakly bonded old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack in all aspects. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. At low and intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions a little snow is lying.
Some new snow above approximately 900 m. The cold fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger.
