In sintesi

At the mid and upper elevations west-northwest winds have created pockets of soft slab up to two feet in depth. These surface slabs and loose snow sluffs are expected to be easily triggered by humans who venture into avalanche starting zones, cliff areas or onto very steep slopes. Aside from some shallow loose snow sluffs, avalanches are not likely at the lower elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

There will be a brief break overnight before the next system moves into the region. On Saturday snow will develop during the day and continue into Sunday. Several inches of accumulation are expected by sunset and five to ten inches are possible in the mountains by Sunday evening. Temperatures will be in the teens and 20s. Winds will be west to southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Pockets of soft surface slab up to two feet in depth and loose snow sluffs could be human triggered in steep avalanche starting zones and in cliff areas. Some potential may also persist for humans to trigger hard slabs to three feet in depth due to the persistence of depth hoar at the base of the snowpack.
