North to northeast winds have drifted light density snow that has accumulated over the past several days into isolated pockets of soft surface slab up to one foot in depth. These shallow isolated pockets of slab lie upon slick old snow surfaces. They could be triggered by single skiers or riders and pose a hazard to those who venture into cliff areas, steep couloirs or onto steep slopes above terrain traps.

Cold temperatures will prevail as a very cold artic airmass settles in. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance of some very light snow. Temperatures at sunrise are expected to be around 15 to 20 below zero. Daytime highs will rise to around positive five degrees. Winds will be south to southwesterly at 5 to 15 MPH.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON AREA, PORTIONS OF THE TOGWOTEE PASS / CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AREA WEST OF AND ALONG THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AND THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE GREYS RIVER / SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREA: The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. FOR THE UPPER GREEN RIVER BASIN AND THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE GREYS RIVER / SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREA. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Areas of soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth exist. Caution is advised on steep slopes with significant accumulations of new snow. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
