New snow and wind-drifting snow will increase your chances of triggering avalanches in the coming days. Avalanche danger will increase as new snow accumulates.
If you are out traveling in the backcountry and observe 8 inches or more of new snow, identify areas where winds are drifting the new snow into deeper drifts. If that drift sits on old snow below, these areas may be where you can trigger an avalanche on a steep slope. You are most likely to find this set-up above treeline on north, northeast, and east slopes.
