In sintesi

The avalanche danger is Low this morning and will rise to Moderate at all elevations today. Warm temperatures overnight have minimized the depth of freezing of snow surfaces. Expect wet loose activity to increase in likelihood with rising temperatures as well as light rain falling in the lower elevations. Isolated pockets of old wind slab may be triggered in very steep upper elevation terrain and will require larger triggers. New snow falling in the upper elevations will not be enough to create new instabilities. It will be important to monitor snow surfaces for warming and move off of steep terrain as the snow becomes damp.

    Clear skies allowed for a light refreezing of snow surfaces overnight. However, warm temperatures prevented surfaces from gaining enough strength to last through the day today. Expect mostly shallow wet loose avalanche activity to become more likely as the day progresses. Watch for signs of warming such as roller balls and plan your exit routes in anticipation of difficult travel in the lower elevations later in the day.

Avalanche Discussion

As the current system moves through the area expect lingering snow showers overnight and into tomorrow. Accumulation will be less than an inch in all three forecast areas. Temperatures at 8,000-9,000 feet will dip into the high teens to low twenties overnight and climb into the high twenties to low thirties tomorrow. Ridgetop winds will be out of the west at 20-25 mph. Expect periods of sunshine tomorrow interspersed with isolated showers.Avalanche activity will be unlikely tomorrow and the danger will be Low. Isolated pockets of shallow wind slab may be triggered in the upper elevations but will be small in size. Wet loose activity may also be possible in very steep terrain receiving direct sun. Any wet loose avalanches will also be small. Remember that Low danger does not mean no danger. Pay attention to changing conditions and be prepared to adjust your plan if encountering unstable snow.
