In sintesi

Thin slabs of wind-drifted snow can be found on east-facing terrain in the middle elevations. Being entrained in a small avalanche today could result in injuries sustained from the long sliding fall on icy snow surfaces. Avoiding the recent wind-transported snow and utilizing tools for self-arrest will make for a more enjoyable day in the mountains.

    Isolated slabs of wind drifted snow can be found on eastern aspects in the middle elevations. These slabs will likely be thin and stubborn to human triggering. The contrasting whiteness of the recently deposited snow should make them easier to identify. The older and darker snow, that has refrozen from Monday's rain event, will act as the bed surface for small wind slab avalanches. Avoiding wind-transported snow and sticking to firm and icy slopes will help you avoid the avalanche problem. 

Avalanche Discussion

The rain from Sunday and Monday has once again reset the snowpack, changing it into a frozen and impenetrable icy surface in most locations. Yesterday's new snow has been blown around by west and northwest winds, redistributing the 1.2 to 2.4 inches into thin and isolated slabs. You will be able to find these drifts in the middle elevations on aspects facing north through east through south.

If you are entering mountainous slopes today bring your companion rescue equipment and tools for self arrest such as crampons and ice axes. Microspikes offer very little in the way of traction on these refrozen slopes. Falling on even a minor incline can result in injury.
