The high temperatures as the day progresses will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack.

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night was barely evident. The surface of the snowpack is hardly frozen at all and will already be soft in the early morning.

Snowpack Structure

On very steep sunny slopes the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches will increase during the day.
