Snowfall, sometimes heavy, and strong to stormy winds significantly increase the risk of avalanches.

The avalanche danger remains predominantly low. There are only a few avalanche prone locations in the ridgeline and summit area, behind terrain edges and in steep bowls and gullies. The persistent weak layer problem can only occur very rarely on shady slopes and high up in extreme terrain.

The old snowpack is predominantly stable, with different surface characteristics, often load-bearing and moist up to high altitudes in the centre. At very high altitudes, the snow base, fundament is occasionally weakened. There is only a little snow left.

On Wednesday, the sun will shine until midday in foehn weather. During the afternoon, dense clouds will spread and it will cool down significantly with a freshening west to north-westerly wind. From later in the afternoon it will rain and snow. At 1500 metres, the temperature will be 6 degrees at midday and -5 degrees in the evening. At 2000 metres, it will be around 2 degrees by midday and -8 degrees in the evening. On Thursday, the mountains of the Limestone Alps will be covered in thick clouds and it will snow heavily for a long time. A partly stormy north-westerly wind will blow. At 1500 metres it will be around -5 degrees, at 2000 metres around -9 degrees.
