As a consequence of a strong wind from northwesterly directions, sometimes large wind slabs formed. The clearly visible wind slabs of yesterday can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on north to east to southeast facing aspects above approximately 2300 m. In some places avalanches can also penetrate deep layers. Caution is to be exercised in particular in steep starting zones that have retained the snow thus far. In steep rocky terrain individual small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2200 m. Backcountry touring calls for defensive route selection. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

10 to 15 cm of snow, but less in some localities, fell on Monday above approximately 2500 m. The sometimes storm force wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Above the tree line sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. Towards its surface, the snowpack is hard and its surface has a crust, especially below approximately 2300 m. In particular east, north and west facing slopes: Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. Since Christmas Day in all aspects numerous medium-sized and large avalanches were reported. Below approximately 2000 m only a little snow is lying.

The danger will persist.
