In sintesi

Strong to extreme Westerly winds and up to 30cm of snow Sunday are making for continued dangerous avalanche conditions. We expect a natural avalanche cycle tomorrow. Travel in any avalanche terrain is not advised. SH

Problemi valanghivi

  • Storm Slabs

    • Alta quota
    • Limite del bosco
    • Sotto il limite del bosco
    Probabilità
    Very Likely
    Dimensione
    2–3
With the forecast snow and wind Sunday, expect rapid formation of windslabs which should be enough to further increase the danger. These will be very susceptible to human triggering and will step down to the basal depth hoar.
  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alta quota
    • Limite del bosco
    • Sotto il limite del bosco
    Probabilità
    Very Likely
    Dimensione
    2–3
Windslabs 60-100cm thick sit over weak basal depth hoar. This was producing easy compression results at treeline today with the whole block collapsing. Natural avalanches to size 2.5 have been reported over the last 24 hours.
