Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are dangerous. Avalanches are very likely in areas that got more than about a foot of new snow. Strong winds on Wednesday night will drift the recent snow into slabs resting on a tender snowpack. We had several reports of avalanches near Grand Lake, on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park, and in the Never Summer Range. As slabs of storm snow form, avalanches will break wider, and you can trigger these avalanches from flat areas below steep slopes.

Avoid steep slopes where you see active snow drifting, see bulbous pillows of recently drifted snow, or observe shooting cracks in the snow.
