In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. New snow driven by strong westerly ridgetop winds has formed pockets of wind slab up to a foot deep on good sliding surfaces. The chance for skiers and riders to trigger these slides in steep, wind loaded terrain will increase with daytime warming and sunshine. Wet, loose sluffing of the new snow will also be likely later in the day.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Expect mostly dry conditions on Tuesday. Cloud cover will decrease overnight and skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny during the day. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the upper teens before rising to near freezing in the afternoon. Westerly ridgetop winds will back to the southwest and decrease to 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW Tuesday morning and could rise to MODERATE during the day if skies are mostly sunny. Isolated pockets of very shallow wind slab could be triggered in steep, wind loaded terrain. Monday’s new snow will slow the sun's impact on the spring snowpack below. Take note if old snow surfaces become unsupportable; this will be an indicator that wet slides are becoming possible.
