The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Weak, faceted snow persists at the base of the snowpack. On Sunday, a group of skiers remotely triggered a five foot, full depth, hard slab avalanche on this weak layer. Similar slides are possible today in steep, avalanche-prone terrain and could be triggered even after a slope has been crossed multiple times.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. ) New snow will drift into pockets of deepening soft slabs on steep, lee slopes at the higher elevations but the hazard will continue to be mostly from the pre existing, deeper instabilities. In steep terrain, the General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be:MODERATE in the Teton area where it will be possible for backcountry travelers to trigger pockets of dense surface slab up to thirty inches deep.CONSIDERABLE in the Greys River area. Skiers and riders could trigger surface slabs to two feet along with dangerous, full depth hard slabs.MODERATE in the Togwotee Pass area where triggering hard slabs to the ground will be possible.
