Avalanche Summary

Your window for safe travel will depend on the amount of overnight freeze, so start and end your day early. Check for a firm crust and pay attention to how deeply you sink into wet snow. If you are sinking past your ankles with boots on, head to cooler aspects, or call it a day. The most dangerous slopes will be steep rocky slopes with snow that has yet to go through a melt-freeze cycle. Roller balls are a good early indication of the snowpack losing strength. Higher elevations and shady slopes offer safer riding. On some shallow near treeline aspects these avalanches may gouge deeper or break as a Wet Slab avalanche.

Multiple cornices have collapsed in the last couple of days. Don’t travel under these features and stay well back from the visible edge.
