Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to thaw and slowly consolidate becoming mostly well bonded and stable. A few localised areas of moderately bonded snow will persist in the deeper accumulations which will be encountered in steeper, wind sheltered locations on North-East through South-East to South-West aspects above 1000 metres. Any remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: No precipitation has been forecast. Winds, light Southerly overnight, becoming moderate South-South-Westerly by day. Freezing level well over all summits. Observed Weather Influences: Very light rain at all levels with the freezing level above the summits. Strong South-South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: A slow, steady thaw is taking place with surface layers softening and becoming wet. Above 800 metres on North-East through South-East to South-West aspects, drier moderately bonded snow persists within the deeper accumulations which exist in steeper, wind sheltered locations. Gully tops and defined corrie rims are particularly affected with thawing cornices threatening the slopes below. Elsewhere the snow is consolidating and is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
