Forecast Snow Stability: There will be some depletion of the snow at lower elevations during the day with fresh unstable windslab accumulations developing on North-West to East aspects above 850 metres.Mostly affecting steeper terrain; wind sheltered ridge crests and the tops of gullies. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be moderate South-West this evening, strengthening to fresh East-South-East overnight becoming moderate strength Southerly later. There will be moderate scattered snow showers. The freezing level will gradually rise from around 200 meters tonight to 450 meters later. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a misty day with occasional clear spells during the morning. Visibility deteriorating in the afternoon.A dry morning with some light scattered snow showers later. Winds were fresh Northerly at first backing North-Westerly by lunch time becoming moderate in strength. The freezing level was around 400 metres.
