In sintesi

A hard refreeze and chilly northeast winds will limit surface warming. Prepare for rough and firm surface conditions. Monitor sunny, wind-protected slopes for isolated wet snow instabilities. Move to colder snow or lower-slope angles if the surface is becoming unsupportable.

Avalanche Discussion

A gradual warming trend continues today. Freezing levels rise into the upper elevations by this afternoon. The snow surface froze solid overnight, and cold northeast winds will again limit thawing.

You may find small instabilities on sunny, wind-protected slopes. Watch for rollerballs or deep wet snow as signs that isolated wet loose avalanches are becoming possible.

Rising snow lines, emerging obstacles, and open water are hazards to manage at lower elevations. As you climb higher, hard, slick surfaces will be common across all aspects. Ski and boot crampons, and an ice axe, can help prevent a nasty slip-and-fall.
