Dense surface slabs could be human triggered today in steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones, couloirs and cliff areas. These slabs are generally expected to be one to two feet deep but could be up to three feet deep in some areas.

Avalanche Discussion

Skies will remain cloudy with periods of light snowfall that will favor the Salt River Range. Snowfall totals of 4 to 7 inches are likely in portions of the Greys River forecast area. Other areas can expect to receive 1 to 4 inches. Temperatures in the mountains will drop into the single digits overnight and rise into the teens during the day. Winds will be from the northeast to southeast with gusts to 30 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE in the Teton and Togwotee Pass areas and may be higher in portions of the Greys River area that are favored by this southern storm track. Slab avalanches formed by recent winds could be human triggered with depths to two feet in steep avalanche prone terrain.
