Forecast Snow Stability: The patchy snowpack will become much firmer during the day and remain well bonded and stable throughtout. Any new snow amounts will be insignificant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Storm force Southerly winds will ease to gale force during the day and veer to become Westerly. Overnight rain will, clear by dawn. Gradually becoming cooler during the day with some occasional very light snow showers above 600 metres. The freezing level will fall to 700 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: Showers of rain falling as sleet over the tops. Winds were strong to gale force South-Westerlies. The freezing level gradually lowered to summit levels by midday. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack continues to thaw at all altitudes and is mostly confined to coire back walls and some areas on the plateau. Larger patches remain on South-West to South-East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
