Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of poorly bonded windslab will be present in wind sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Gully tops and corrie rims will be most affected. Moderately bonded deposits will be present on North and some South aspects above 900 metres. Cornices will be prone to collapse. Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry thought the forecast period with fresh to strong Westerly winds. The freezing level will be initially around 900 metres, then overnight will rise above the summits and remain there throughout the day. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow showers were at times heavy, initially falling to around 300 metres. Mostly dry during the day with snow falling to 800 metres in isolated showers. ObservedSnowStability: Localised moderately to poorly bonded windslab is present in wind sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Gully tops and corrie rims above 950 metres are most affected. Fresh cornices on these aspects are fragile. Many areas have no snow, shallow snow or well bonded firm and icy old snow.
