Avalanche Activity

In isolated cases small wind slabs formed.

In the last few days rather small wind slabs formed in particular at elevated altitudes. The fresh wind slabs can in isolated cases be released by people. In particular on very steep sunny slopes small moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation, in particular below approximately 2700 m. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The cold fresh snow of Friday and the small wind slabs have bonded well with the old snowpack. Less snow than usual is lying. On sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. In the last few days hardly any more avalanches occurred naturally. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep shady slopes.

Tendency

Some new snow above approximately 1700 m: Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and strong wind.
