Forecast Snow Stability: The existing sparse snowpack will refreeze overnight. New snow and Southerly winds will form localised areas of windslab in the most sheltered areas mainly where old snow underlies. Sheltered gullies and North-Westerly to North-Easterly aspects above 850 metres will be most affected. Windward slopes will be scoured and may become icy. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: It will dry overnight and for much of the morning. Snow showers in the afternoon will become heavier for a time later. Daytime winds will be generally Southerly increasing to gale later. The freezing level will be around 700 metres rising to 1000 metres by end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: Westerly gales have affected the area, a return to cooler conditions today has given squally showers of snow on the higher slopes, these have been mainly light albeit vigorous. The freezing level is around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack remains well bonded and stable, isolated pockets of fresh windslab are forming in the most sheltered locations. These areas are generally insignificant and avoidable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
