In sintesi

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Two avalanche problems remain a concern: Pockets of soft, surface slab to eighteen inches deep could be triggered in wind-loaded starting zones. On Saturday, two skiers triggered such a slide. Both were caught, partially to completely buried, and sustained some injuries. Second, pockets of hard slab to 3 feet deep lie on old, faceted snow. More substantial triggers such as large groups, snowmobiles, or surface slides may be needed to initiate these slides.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. ) Light snow will end Monday night as high pressure builds into the region. Skies will be mostly sunny Tuesday with mountain highs reaching the mid teens. Winds will be northerly to easterly at 20 miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard will be Moderate. Surface slabs one to two feet in depth on slopes receiving drifted snow over the past few days are possible. Concern continues for more difficult to trigger deeper hard slabs on easterly to northerly slopes.
