In sintesi

Predawn temperatures in the mountains are generally in the upper teens and starting out about six degrees warmer than the same time yesterday morning. The snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely, however the hazard will increase in the afternoon as abundant sunshine and warm temperatures soften our snow surfaces. Once significant softening has occurred the potential for wet slides to occur should be anticipated. Steep avalanche prone slopes and extreme terrain should be avoided in the afternoon.

Avalanche Discussion

High clouds ahead of an approaching storm system will spread into the region overnight. On Wednesday increasing clouds will bring a chance for scattered snow showers to the highest elevations later in the day. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid 20s overnight and rise into the 30s and 40s during the day. Winds will be southwesterly at 10 in the morning and increasing to 20 miles per hour by evening. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW but will increase after snow surfaces soften. Steep avalanche prone slopes should be avoided in the afternoon.
