Forecast Snow Stability: From dawn onwards fresh unstable windslab will continue to be deposited in wind sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations will build on North to East aspects above 900 metres. The old snowpack will be generally stable and during the day its surface will refreeze in the colder conditions. New fragile cornices will build during the day above North to East aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be moderate to strong generally South-South-Easterly overnight and strong South-Westerly from just before dawn onwards through the day. Overnight rain at all levels will turn to snow just before dawn, above around 800 metres as the freezing level lowers from above the summits to around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After a wet start with rain at all levels, the day was mainly dry. The freezing level remained above all summits. Winds were moderate, generally South-South-Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack continues to thaw at all levels and is generally stable on all aspects and at all levels. Remaining cornices are prone to collapse. Greatest accumulations of snow lie on North through East to South-East aspects above 850 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
