Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs represent the main danger.

The fresh wind slabs can in some places be released, even by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular on wind-loaded slopes. Dry slab avalanches are the main danger. Individual mostly small natural avalanches are possible. In very isolated cases avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers reach large size in isolated cases in particular on steep north, east and southeast facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

5 to 10 cm of snow has fallen since Sunday. Strong wind. The old snowpack is fairly homogeneous and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In all aspects at intermediate altitudes less snow than usual is lying.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
