Avalanche Discussion
With no avalanche activity in the past 5 days and another day of mild weather, generally safe conditions persist. Conditions will be similar to the last few days, and today is another great day to get after it. As you travel, expect a variety of surfaces.
Crusts, windboards, and facets exist in the morning, and by midday, wet snow on solar aspects becomes another variable in the equation. Wet snow is our biggest hazard, and steep, rocky terrain facing the sun deserves more caution as the surface warms. The best and most consistent snow quality will still be found in shaded, wind-protected areas.
Depending on where and when you travel today, consider bringing tools like ski crampons and an ice ax to help you manage slick surfaces.
