In sintesi

Avalanches in wind blown snow remain possible where the wind has been the strongest at high alpine elevations.  Don't let the Low hazard near treeline lull you into complacency.  Continue to keep your eyes open and use safe travel techniques; Low hazard means avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider are unlikely, but isolated pockets of instability could still exist.

    Our most recent snowfall on Sunday night was associated with Light winds, and I haven't seen much blowing snow except high on the peaks.  If you are traveling high in the mountains, evaluate whether there has been recently blowing snow.  Look for scoured or scalloped textures that are associated with windward slopes, as well as smooth, soft textures with deeper snow deposits that would indicate leeward slopes.

    While Wind Slab avalanches are unlikely throughout most of our "Near Treeline" terrain, pockets of isolated instability may exist near those locations that are particularly windy like mountain passes.

Avalanche Discussion

Cold temperatures on Monday night and Light winds meant that our surface snow faceted and was still providing good shallow pow riding.  I'm hopeful that cloudy skies and our low sun angle will minimize the effect of warm temperatures on Wednesday, and all but the southern aspects will stay dryish.  At our lowest elevation snowy terrain we may see some melting and rollerballs, but I don't expect we'll see Wet Loose avalanches that would be large enough to bury or injure a rider.
