Beware of numerous exposed rocks hidden by the little recent snow.
The little fresh snow and small drift accumulations were deposited on a weak layer of old snow, especially on the shaded slopes at medium and high altitudes. As a consequence of the occasionally moderate westerly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form on Monday. Dry avalanches can in some places be released in the weakly bonded old snow by small loads, especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas, and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example, in particular on very steep slopes. These places are sometimes covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.
In some localities 5 to 10 cm of snow, and up to 15 cm in some localities, fell on Saturday above approximately 2000 m. The westerly wind will transport the new snow. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions a little snow is lying. Also on steep sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m a little snow is lying. Also at low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is now lying. In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on shady slopes.
