Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on West to North aspects above 800 metres. Wet snow instabilities will quickly develop in these deposits from late evening as snow turns to rain at all levels. Consolidation through the day. During the late afternoon new windslab will be deposited mainly on North to East aspects above 1000 metres but accumulations gaining depth are not expected to be extensive. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: During the evening winds will be moderate increasing strong mainly South-Easterly, with heavy snowfall above around 700 metres. By midnight the freezing level will rise above the summits and snow will turn to rain at all levels. Overnight winds will veer South-Westerly and increase to gale force. During the later afternoon the freezing level will drop to around 1000 metres and precipitation will turn back to snow above that level. Observed Weather Influences: Heavy rain at all levels cleared late morning to give a mainly dry rest of the day. By midday the freezing level lowered to around 1100 metres, then lowered again to 800 metres during the afternoon. Winds were storm force South-Westerly, easing late morning to moderate in strength. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snowpack continues to thaw and diminish, and is generally stable in most locations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
