In the last two days the wind was moderate to strong in particular along the border with Switzerland and along the border with France. On Wednesday small wind slabs formed. They are easy to recognise. The fresh wind slabs can in isolated cases be released by a single winter sport participant. These avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep slopes above approximately 2600 m and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Below approximately 2900 m small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Tuesday above approximately 2400 m. Isolated occasionally large moist avalanches have been released as a consequence of the rain. As a consequence of falling temperatures a quite favourable avalanche situation developed on Wednesday. Early morning: In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. During the day: Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2900 m.

The backcountry touring conditions in the morning, after a clear night, are favourable. Significant increase in danger of wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.
