Forecast Snow Stability: During the afternoon fresh windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered areas, mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. This will be unstable as it gains depth towards the end of the afternoon when the hazard level will increase to Moderate. The old snowpack will be generally well bonded and stable on all aspects and all levels. Greatest accumulations lie on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight winds will strengthen, to be very strong South-South-Westerly during the day, veering Westerly late afternoon. The freezing level will be around the summits until mid-afternoon when it will suddenly drop to 500 metres. Most of the period is expected to be dry, with precipitation starting early afternoon, initially falling as rain at most levels then as snow to lower levels as the freezing level drops. Observed Weather Influences: After some light early morning precipitation, which fell as snow above around 900 metres, it was a dry day. Winds were light Westerly, backing and strengthening moderate South-Westerly. The freezing level was around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: In the morning there was a dusting of new snow above around 850 metres; accumulations were not significant. The patchy old snowpack is generally well bonded and stable. Above around 900 metres its surface has refrozen; below this level it is slowly thawing. Greatest accumulations lie on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
