The easterly wind has transported the new snow.

The fresh wind slabs represent the main danger. These can at their margins be released by a single winter sport participant, but they will be small in most cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in extremely steep terrain and at transitions into gullies and bowls, this also applies adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas at intermediate and high altitudes. Additionally avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers. Whumpfing sounds serve as an alarm sign. The older wind slabs of last week are covered with new snow and therefore difficult to recognise. Small natural dry avalanches are possible, in particular on extremely steep slopes, and in steep rocky terrain.

5 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Monday. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from easterly directions, visible wind slabs formed in the last two days in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In all aspects below approximately 2000 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

The avalanche danger will persist.
