Avalanche Activity

Moderate avalanche danger will still be encountered.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind from southerly directions, mostly small wind slabs will form in the course of the day above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on northwest to north to northeast facing aspects above approximately 2000 m. Some small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible. In steep rocky terrain loose snow slides are possible.

Snowpack Structure

The snowfall gave rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some places in particular on very steep north, northeast and northwest facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. The weather conditions will give rise to softening of the snowpack. This applies in particular below approximately 1700 m. As a consequence of snowfall above approximately 2000 m and the southerly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form in the course of the day. These are mostly only small.
