Low avalanche danger, but due to daytime warming, isolated, small naturally triggered wet-snow avalanches can be expected in steep terrain.

Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack is generally stable. Due to warmth, the snowpack is becoming thoroughly wet.

Weather Synopsis

Lots of clouds are passing through Styria. It is raining on the northern flank of the Alps, snowfall in the early morning hours. During the daytime, rainfall only intermittently, in the evening from the northwest, increased precipitation. On the southern flank of the Alps, only short showers in the afternoon, intermittent sunshine. The snowfall level will ascend in early morning swiftly up to 2000 m. At 2000 m: temperatures will rise from -2 to +3 degrees. Winds will be strong to stormy from the west, reaching 40-60 km/hr.

Tendency

A cold front from the northwest will pass through, bringing strong-velocity gusts. A low over Upper Italy will bring rain and snow to the southern flank of the Alps. Snowfall level will descend in northern regions down to 600 m, on the southern flank of the Alps to 900 m. Very stormy NW winds will intensify. At 2000 m: gusts of 80-110 km/hr can be expected. An increase in avalanche danger is anticipated.
