Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will be present, mainly on South-East to South-West aspects above 900 metres, with East also affected. During the day there will be redistribution mainly onto South-West and West aspects above 900 metres. Some fragile cornices will be present or form above all these aspects. The old snowpack will generally be firm and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be East-North-Easterly throughout the period, light overnight then gradually increasing in strength from dawn onwards to be moderate to strong during the afternoon. It will remain dry and freezing at all levels. Observed Weather Influences: It was a bright dry, very cold day, with light and variable winds.
