Increasing clouds and winds along with cooler temperatures will dramatically lower the chances of wet snow avalanches on Wednesday.  Use caution on steep slopes if you find yourself sinking into wet punchy snow deeper than your ankle.  

Tuesday was warm (Hurricane Ridge had a high of 47F) and featured a mix of sun and clouds.  We'll start to transition away from wet snow problems as an incoming frontal system moves through on Wednesday, increasing ridgeline winds and dropping temperatures rapidly during the day.  We've passed the peak for natural wet loose avalanches, but continue to steer around steep slopes anywhere you find wet punchy snow.  In isolated areas, loose wet avalanches could still become large if they gouge down and entrain deeper layers.  Continue to give cornices a wide berth if traveling along ridgelines.  

2021-22 Forecast Schedule: Avalanche danger ratings will be issued for the Olympics every Friday through Sunday and during mid-week holidays. During the week when the Hurricane Ridge road is closed, forecast information will be updated daily to include expected conditions and relevant travel advice under the No Rating label.
