In sintesi

The snowpack is mostly stable. Human triggered avalanches are unlikely except in isolated areas in very steep terrain where a weak layer of buried surface hoar persist.

In isolated areas at the mid and upper elevations hard slabs lie upon faceted snow and crusts, which formed in January. Some potential may remain for humans, especially those on snowmachines, to trigger hard slab avalanches up to two feet in depth in steep terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Cold northwest flow aloft will bring a second Canadian cold front into central Wyoming. Clouds and light snowfall are likely overnight with the best chances for accumulating snow east of the Continental Divide. Accumulations of an inch or so are expected in our forecast areas. Temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees overnight and rise into the 20s on Monday. Slowly clearing skies are forecast during the day. North to northeast winds will back towards the northwest at speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour.Mostly stable snow exists. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Isolated areas of instability associated with a buried layer of surface hoar may persist. Avalanches are unlikely, however some potential may remain for larger triggers such as snowmachines to trigger hard slab avalanches up to two feet deep in very steep terrain.
