In sintesi

Pockets of soft surface slab to eighteen inches in depth from recent snows could be triggered in wind-loaded starting zones at upper elevations. Also at those elevations areas of older, hard slabs up to 3 feet deep persist primarily on easterly to northerly aspects. Greater triggers such as large groups or snowmobiles repeatedly highmarking may be needed to initiate these slides. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations due to shallow snow depths.

Avalanche Discussion

A weak Pacific weather system will bring some light snow to the mountains tonight. Another Pacific system will deliver about four inches of new snow to the mountains Thursday and Thursday night. Temperatures on Thursday will be cold with daytime highs rising only into the upper single digits to mid teens. Ridge crest winds will be westerly at 12 to 17 miles per hour and veer to the northwest in the late afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above 7,500 feet. Backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of soft surface slab up to 18 inches in depth on steep slopes with fresh deposits of wind blown snow and deeper hard slabs on steep slopes underlain by weak layers of faceted snow. Due to shallow snow depths avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 7,500 feet.
