The general avalanche hazard is LOW this morning and will increase to MODERATE this afternoon. New snow lies upon hard snow surfaces and could be triggered in the form of sluffs this morning, particularly east of the continental divide where more snow has fallen. Increasing temperatures and sunlight will make this new snow more sensitive and allow it to be triggered as soft slabs this afternoon to depths of ten inches. Wet slides may also become possible within the older snow if significant warming occurs.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A few lingering snow showers are possible overnight in most mountain locations while the chance for more significant snowfall exists in the eastern portion of the Wyoming range. On Saturday a ridge of high pressure is to build with mountain highs in the upper twenties to low thirties. Winds are to be light with five to ten mile per hour averages. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Saturday. Wet slides may become possible later in the day in areas where sunlight and rising temperatures weaken the snowpack. This warming is most expected in areas below 9000 feet. Loose snow sluffs may also be possible in steep terrain in the eastern portion of the Wyoming Range if significant snowfall occurs on the hard snow surfaces.
