In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is Moderate today. In areas that held snow prior to this weeks storms, soft slabs have formed on weak, faceted snow and crusts. Backcountry travelers could trigger these slabs with depths to eighteen inches in steep wind loaded terrain at higher elevations where they are underlain by the old snow. Avalanches are unlikely elsewhere today.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies are to be mostly cloudy with a chance for occasional snow flurries. High temperatures are expected to be in the twenties as valley inversions build and winds are to be from the Northwest at 10-15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate at the higher elevations. Near ridge crests where significant wind loading occurred, pockets of soft slab to depths of eighteen inches could be triggered by skiers or riders. These slabs could be released only on very steep slopes where they are underlain by the older, weak snowpack. Avalanches are unlikely elsewhere.
