Avalanche Summary

Dangerous avalanche conditions exist on most slopes, after a second night with above-freezing temperatures to 11,000 feet. You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on any steep slope where you experience wet, cohesionless surface conditions or sink past your ankles. Lower-elevation slopes and slopes facing east to south through west are the most dangerous areas, with the danger increasing into upper elevations and shadier slopes as the day warms. Avoid slopes with dust-tinted surfaces or with roller balls of loose snow on the surface, and stay well out from under corniced slopes or snow-covered cliff bands. Supportable slopes less than thirty degrees with no steep terrain overhead offer safer choices.
