The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above 9000 feet where backcountry riders or skiers have the potential to trigger pockets of dense surface slabs to 18 inch depths. These slabs lie in exposed terrain that is very steep where recent wind loading has occurred. Below 9,000 feet the hazard is LOW where isolated pockets to ten inches could be triggered in very steep terrain.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Periods of light snow and moderate west to northwest are expected through mid day Friday. Temperatures are to rise into the low twenties. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 9000 feet where skiers and riders will have the potential to trigger pockets of dense surface slabs to depths of eighteen inches in very steep, rocky, wind loaded terrain near ridge crests. Below 9000 feet the hazard will be Low where isolated pockets to a foot in depth could be triggered.
