The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE at Mid and Upper elevations and LOW at Low elevations. No slides have been reported since the foot of light snow fell ending Tuesday. Pockets of slabs to eighteen inches in depth could be triggered today on lee slopes near ridgecrests as the day warms destabilizing the snowpack. Larger triggers like the second or later person or sled on a slope may be needed to initiate an avalanche. At Low elevations the snowpack is shallow and slides are unlikely.

A moist northwesterly flow will bring a chance of light snowfall on Thursday night with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of light density snow. Ridge top winds are expected to back westerly, vary from 20 to 25 mph. Overnight lows in the mountains should dip down into the negative single digits before rising to near 10 degrees on Friday.With little to no new snowfall in the forecast, the General Avalanche Hazard in the Teton area on Friday is expected to be MODERATE above 9,000 feet where pockets of slab up to 18 inches in depth could be triggered by backcountry travelers in steep, wind loaded starting zones. Below 9,000 feet, mostly stable snow exists, and avalanches are unlikely.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to remain LOW in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River regions.
